Introduction
- a rare scaly chronic red/orange rash with thickening and scaling of the palms and soles forming palmoplantar keratoderma
- classic forms usually go away in 3 to 5 years with or without treatment
- atypical forms may last over 20 years and often have an eczematous component
Epidemiology
- ~60% affect adults - most often affects adults between 50 and 70 years of age
- ~40% affect children 1)
- inherited forms of PRP are very rare
Clinical features
- 6 main types
- scaly chronic red/orange rash with thickening
- scaling of the palms and soles forms palmoplantar keratoderma
- mildly itchy
- can progress to cover most of the body
- can cause ectropion of the eyelid
